The need to change our broken voting system has never been so clear. The breakdown of the two-party system is now daily news coverage and modern, multiparty politics is now a reality. Dozens of MPs are calling for a National Commission on Electoral Reform and there is a real possibility of bringing in Proportional Representation sooner rather than later. But how do we get there?
This meeting is an opportunity to discuss this question. It is open to activists and supporters of all organisations in the UK advocating for electoral reform, including Labour for a New Democracy and Labour Campaign for Electoral Reform, Liberal Democrats for Electoral Reform, Make Votes Matter, Unlock Democracy, and more.
We will give an update on the campaign for PR, including the Representation of the People Bill and levels of public support, before turning to an open discussion of the route to delivering PR.
What role can a National Commission play? What constitutes a mandate? What does a national conversation about the voting system look like?
Register here, bring your thoughts and ideas, and join us to discuss.
