66 Labour MPs back amendment
66 Labour MPs from the right and left of the party have put forward an amendment to the Representation of the People Bill, calling for the Government to get to grips with the broken First Past the Post voting system.
Tabled by Alex Sobel MP, Chair of the APPG for Fair Elections, the amendment would push the Government to set up a National Commission on Electoral Reform.

The signatories span Labour's political spectrum and include senior backbenchers such as Select Committee Chairs, former Ministers, and leading figures from the 2024 intake of MPs.
In the coming days, we'll be working to invite even more MPs to push the Government to get to grips with our broken voting system. As part of this, we'll soon invite you to write to your MPs to ask them to support this amendment (if they haven't already).
In the meantime, a huge thank you for being part of the #Labour4PR campaign. This is a major intervention in favour of fair votes led by Labour MPs. It's only possible because of the work we've all done to win over the whole Labour movement in recent years - and the organising our small team has led in Parliament since the last election.
